Alvin Jones got his start as a radio and television personality. In radio, he hosted number one rated “The Quiet Storm” on WHUR-FM, the show’s original home and “The Slow Jam” on WKYS-FM and also cooled you out while behind the mike at “Smooth Jazz105.9” all in Washington, D.C. Recently he was selected as host for XM Satellite Radio’s new national daily talk show “T.M.I.” (Too Much Information) on channel 169 “The Power.”
Alvin, aka “The Unseen VJ”® is known nationally as the former VJ and producer for cable network Black Entertainment Television (BET). While at BET “The Unseen VJ”® hosted and produced music video programs “Video Vibrations,” “Softnotes,” and “Midnight Love.” He also created BET’s popular “Rap City.” His efforts were instrumental in developing the music industries use of the music video genre to market their R&B, hip-hop and jazz artists.
He also served as host and executive producer of “NightMoves” a music video program that was jointly owned by Aye Jay Productions, one of the companies he owns and “The Dream Network.”
He is also president of Alvin Jones Communications, a multi-faced entertainment company. Alvin Jones Communications offers various services from video production, webcasting to public relations. Clients include Sister2Sister Magazine, Council for Excellence in Government, and Miss Virginia USA 2002, Julie Laipply.
For over 25 years Alvin has been active in the community. As a public speaker, master of ceremonies, host or pitchman he gives tireless energy to causes and issues that he cares deeply about.
